Eat, drink, mingle, and dance your way into the New Year with Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance (SH/CD)! Join us at Richmond Movement Center for a festive cocktail-style evening of great company, pop-up performances, and a dance party celebrating SH/CD’s growing presence in the Richmond and Petersburg communities—and kicking off 30 Years of Cora Dance!
Hosted at Richmond Movement Center, where Founder and Choreographer Shannon Hummel serves as RMC’s first Choreographer-in-Residence, this Mingle brings together artists, friends, and dance lovers for an evening of connection, celebration, and a look at what’s next.

Enjoy performances spanning nearly three decades of Hummel’s choreography, featuring past and present SH/CD artists, local youth dancers, and special guests. The evening includes excerpts from SH/CD's COMMON DANCES (2015) performed by NY and Richmond-based youth and professionals; Are We There Yet?/Crossroads (2026), performed by Henrico High School Performing Arts Center Dance students, and a first look at Hummel’s new work-in-progress, Vessel, created during her Richmond Movement Center residency. Plus, catch the return of Had You Been Here (1998), Hummel’s first professional work, performed by SH/CD’s new Richmond/Petersburg-based Apprentice Company from Appomattox Regional Governor’s School.
Great performances, good company, and a dance floor waiting for you! We’ll close the night with a community dance party celebrating the New Year and the next 30 years of Cora Dance.
