Join Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance as part of a vibrant evening of performances as part of Bath County, Virginia’s Living Arts Gathering. This showcase brings together an eclectic mix of local and visiting artists—poets, storytellers, musicians, dancers, and filmmakers—for a rich tapestry of live performance and shared expression. SH/CD will offer two presentations:
Excerpts of Vessel — SH/CD’s latest work-in-progress — is a meditation on the quiet, unseen forces that shape us. Performed by Ammara Shafqat, Nikki Assanti, Cynthia Thompson, and Keon Washington, the raw material from this work-in-progress unfolds in a space where life and death, knowing and not knowing, dissolve into one another, asking “what remains when we are gone?” carrying time forward, through presence, touch, and the willingness to connect or let go.
Closing the evening, SH/CD presents To Friends from The Fellowship Project’s Common Dances suite. A tender farewell wrapped in humor, longing, and love, this short gem is performed by choreographer Shannon Hummel and offers a reflection on the sweet, sorrowful, and sublime moments shared with those who pass through our lives.
Tickets are $30 or pay-as-you-wish, available here.
